Buddha's Noble Truths and some more
The Primary Noble Truths:
1. Life is painful, conditional, and unsatisfying.
2. There are four causes that lead to suffering.
3. There is an end to suffering.
4. There is a path (way out) to ending suffering.
The 4 Causes of Suffering:
1. Separation from what is loved.
2. Connection with what is disliked.
3. Failure to attain what is desired.
4. Clinging to earthly things.
1. Every human being has consciousness and is therefore potential a Buddha.
2. Consciousness is transcendental, untouchable and indestructible.
3. Every human being is subject to the law of cause and effect.
4. The path consists of overcoming the personality, which causes suffering and obscures true nature.
5. There are instructions and recipes (Dharma) for overcoming this.
6. The complete cessation of suffering is achieved with the cessation of the cycle of existence and karma (Nirvana).
7. Every human being will one day reach Nirvana, either through the long, painful path of experience or by a shortcut. The life of universe lasts long enough.
8. Suffering is inherent in the conditionality, insubstantiality, and impermanence of all phenomena. Buddha understood this, while the average person only experiences suffering in the face of lack.
10. All events are irreversible; grief, etc., only demonstrates strong attachment.
11. Buddha himself never taught rituals or ceremonies.
12. A transformation of one's being can only occur through one's own spiritual power.
13. Whoever wishes to integrate something new (good or bad) into their being must relinquish what they already possess.
14. Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana are not competitors, but rather build upon one another or partially run parallel.
